Going Nuts in Amana
As posted earlier, we took in the annual Maifest in the historic Amana Colonies last weekend. There are several food vendors and all the snack and chocolate one could ever want. Of course, there is the ever popular Kettelcorn stand. It is Iowa after all. But it was the candied nut stand that garnered my undivided attention. The nut stand offered almonds, cashews, or pecans candied in an amazing cinnamon-sugar-butter-crunch-maple mixture that was delicious beyond words.

Here, almonds are stirred in a syrupy mixture of sugar, cinnamon, and plenty of butter, I’m sure. I’m really not sure what was in here, but it looked and smelled amazing.

Here is the finished product. These just happen to be pecans. I bought 2 bags for a whopping 6 bucks.
