Great Blue Heron of Elkader
This Blue Heron really didn’t want his picture taken very badly. I chased him up and down the Turkey River for about 15 minutes. I finally got a decent shot of him in flight against the early autumn foliage.
We took a nice early autumn drive to the small town of Elkader, Iowa this afternoon. The reason for the drive was to shoot the longest Keystone Bridge west of the Mississippi River. The bridge spans the Turkey River. This Great Blue Heron decided to change my shooting plans just a bit.
I like the softness and the colorful reflections on the water in this shot.
