I did not have many good opportunities to photograph these guys.  They are fast, and rarely landed anywhere near me.  I snapped this shot with the camera handheld.  With my luck, getting the tripod and setting it up would've been a waste of time.

Red Dragonfly: A Friend in Your Yard

Here, I added quite a bit of vignette to the shot.  That made the butterfly kinda pop with light.  This is pretty easy to do in Aperture 3.  I didn't mess with the color too much.  Pretty much what I saw is what you get.

I shot this fly as I was peering through one of our Hydrangea bushes.  For some reason, they swarmed around this bush until I treated it with a systemic root wash.  Problem solved.
